This section describes the basic steps to prepare and process in SIDRA ASSIGN.
Working with Assign Networks and Assign Volume Bin
Working with Assign Networks and Assign Volume Bins requires working with the Assign Tab and the Volume Store Tab. The recommended method to efficiently modify Assign Volume Bins, or to quickly check Assign Volume Bin inputs is to use right-click menu shortcuts.
In the Assign Tab and in the Assign Setup or Assign Output Tab, the Network Section is shown in the Project Pane. Right-click on an Assign Network in the Network Section to open the shortcut menus. Use the Assign Volume Bin shortcut to access either the Assign Volume Bin or the O-D Volumes dialog. The dialogs will open for the Assign Volume Bin or the O-D Volume of the selected Assign Scenario of the selected Assign Network. The right-click menu allows access to the relevant Volume Store dialogs without leaving the Assign Tab. Right-click menus are also available on the Assign Layout Display (described in Section 3.5).
The use of MS Excel spreadsheets is an efficient method to enter and modify O-D Volumes. In the O-D Volumes dialog for an Assign Volume Bin, click on the Copy O-D Volumes to Clipboard button to copy the O-D Volumes and paste (Ctrl-V) onto a spreadsheet. Modify the values as needed and copy and paste back in to Assign O-D Volumes dialog. It is convenient to use the Square Matrix (Matrix Type) for this purpose.
The Volume Calculator in the O-D Volumes dialog is a convenient computational tool for combining O-D Volumes and applying growth rates to create new O-D Volumes. Refer to Section 3.2.4 for details on the Volume Calculator.
